Answer
Problem: I would like to track all of my Miva Merchant Five page views and sales statistics in Google Analytics.
Solution Complexity: Intermediate
Knowledge Requirements: Upload modules, basic understanding of Google Analytics and goal funnels
Solution: In this tutorial, we will install the eMediaSales Google Analytics Integration Module for Miva Merchant Five, available for download on our site
here
. This module is free when you display the copyright code and link tag in your HEAD tag (which installs automatically) and is invisible to your store customers. You can also purchase a commercial license for a minimal fee to remove the copyright code and link. After installation of the module, we configure a goal funnel in Google Analytics that will track the progress of your customers through your store.
This solution involves the following steps, each detailed below:

Create a Goal Funnel in Google Analytics
*Note: The eMediaSales Google Analytics Integration Module for Miva Merchant Five will place a copyright notice link tag in the HEAD tag of your Miva Merchant store. This copyright notice is NOT visible by your store customers unless they "view html source". This copyright attribution is required for free use of the module. To remove the copyright notice, you may purchase a commercial license for the module for a minimal fee. Contact

Step 1: Download and Install the eMediaSales Google Analytics Integration Module
Download the module from our website:
eMediaSales Google Analytics Integration Module for Miva Merchant Five
Log into your store administration, and make sure you're in "Advanced Mode"
Click on the "Add Module" link in the left hand administration pane.
Upload the module file and click "Update"
Open your store by clicking the '+' sign next to Stores, and open your store by clicking the '+' sign next to your store name.
Click on the Utilities link to show what utility modules are available for your store.
Check the box next to the analytics module, and click update.
A new tab will be displayed for the module, click this tab and insert your Google Analytics Site ID and click "Update". Your site ID can be found by logging into Google Analytics.
Step 2: Enable e-Commerce tracking in Google Analytics
Log into your Google Analytics account.
In the Site Profiles, click the "Edit" link next to your web site URL
Click the "Edit" link in the "Main Website Profile Information" section
In the Edie Profile Information section, set the Default page to /[storecode]/SFNT.html (see Note below in Section 3 for more information on how to form this URL.
In the E-Commerce website section, click the radio button next to "Yes, an E-Commerce site" and make any further settings changes you would like (ex: Currency settings, etc).
Check the box next to "Apply Cost Data" if you want to also track your Google AdWords cost.
Click "Save Changes" at the bottom of this screen. Google Analytics is now configured to track your e-commerce statistics.
Step 3: Create a Goal Funnel
In this section, we'll create all of the settings necessary to track a standard Miva Merchant Five checkout through your store. If you have enabled upsell or have any additional pages in your checkout process (for example, if you require login prior to checkout), you may want to add steps into your goal funnel. Additionally, if you have reduced the number of pages in your checkout you will want to set several steps to be "Optional" steps so you don't lose your final goal tracking for customers that skip portions of the checkout.
*Note: Our eMediaSales Google Analytics Integration module creates "pseudo-page" tracking codes for every screen in your store. For example, your store front will be recorded in Google Analytics as "/[storecode]/SFNT.html". These pages don't actually exist on your website, however using these pseudo-page URLs in Google Analytics is acceptable.
**Note: You may decide your goal funnel should start at a different step - for example the PROD, CTGY or LOGN page. The URLs we configure in the goal funnel below can be found simply by going through your own checkout and viewing the HTML source of the page. If your eMediaSales Google Analytics Integration module is properly installed, you will see the pseudo-page tracking code towards the very bottom of your HTML source. Look for a line in your HTML such as: urchinTracker("/storecode/SFNT.html") which designates the "Store Front" page in Miva Merchant. Page codes and names can be viewed in your Miva Merchant administration by clicking the "Pages" link inside of your store.
In Google Analytics, click the "Analytics Settings" link to see your Site Profiles if you are not already on the page that shows the list of sites you are tracking with Google Analytics.
Click the "Edit" link next to your web site URL.
In the "Conversion Goals and Funnel" section, click the "Edit" link next to the Goal you wish to create (usually G1). Configure the Goal with the following settings. Where a settings contains square brackets with a value inside (ex: [like this]), replace the brackets and text inside with values that apply to your site and store.
Goal URL = http://[www.yoururl.com]/[storecode]/INVC.html
Goal Name = Online Sale
Step 1: URL = /[storecode]/OCST.html Name= Checkout: Customer Information
Mark Step 1 as Required
Step 2: URL = /[storecode]/OSEL.html Name = Checkout: Shipping and Payment Selection
Step 3: URL = /[storecode]/OPAY.html Name = Checkout: Payment Information
Click "Save Changes" to record this Goal Funnel
Your goal funnel is now configured, and you are ready to begin testing.
NOTE: Google analytics may take 24 hours or longer to display results
